CLC Theatre presents children’s comedy ‘Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook’

by Public Relations and Marketing | Published Sep 14, 2018

The College of Lake County Theatre department presents children’s comedy “Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook” Thursday and Friday, Sept. 27 and 28 at 10 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 29 at 3 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. Performances take place in the Mainstage Theatre of James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on CLC’s Grayslake Campus.

Appropriate for children ages 5 and up, “Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook” is written by playwright Allison Gregory and is based on author Barbara Park’s fictional work, part of the best-selling “Junie B. Jones” children’s book series. The namesake Junie B. is known as the World’s Funniest Kindergartner, but a terrible thing has happened to her: Someone took her new black furry mittens—and kept them! The person didn’t even put Photo of three cast members of Junie B. Jones Is Not a Crookthem in the Lost and Found at school. So when Junie B. finds a wonderful pen on the floor, should she be allowed to keep it?

“Junie B. tries so hard to make the right decisions, but—true to all children—that doesn't always happen and things don't always turn out the way we wish they would,” said Alicia Hall, the play’s director and an adjunct CLC theatre instructor. “The wonderful thing about the character of Junie B. is that she is so funny, spirited and clever, she easily draws the audience to relate to her and root for her."
