With manufacturing accounting for one in seven Lake County jobs, according to the nonprofit Lake County Partners, the College of Lake County is celebrating Manufacturing Month in October with five public events.
Unless otherwise noted, each event will take place at the Grayslake Campus:

- Manufacturing Job Fair, Wednesday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., A Wing Hallway. Hiring managers from several companies, including Amazon and Procter and Gamble, will discuss full-time and internship opportunities. Available positions include: engineers (automotive, electrical, industrial and mechanical); automotive collision and repair; manufacturing; production, heating, ventilating and air conditioning engineering technology; computerized numerical control; mechatronics: and laser/photonics/optics. - Engineering Night Tuesday, Oct. 23, 5:30-9 p.m., A Wing Lower Level. Explore careers in engineering and computer science and meet with representatives from area engineering schools. Mingle with professional engineers to learn about engineering careers such as civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical computer science, aerospace and more. CLC engineering professors will explain the engineering college search process. Three, 25-minute breakout sessions cover participating college and university engineering programs, and visitors will be able to tour the new Baxter Innovation Lab. - Manufacturing Career Expo Tuesday, Oct. 23, 5:30-9 p.m., A Wing First Floor Hallway. Representatives from several Lake County manufacturers will be on hand to discuss the manufacturing industry, providing information and insight for individuals curious about manufacturing and the outlook in the field. Meet with CLC staff and faculty to learn about manufacturing-related career program certificates and degree options. Ongoing tours cover the Baxter Innovation Lab in addition to the labs for computerized numerical control, automation/robotics/mechatronics and laser/photonics/optics.
- Resource for You Panel Discussion presented by Workforce Development Department, Wednesday, Oct. 31, 10-11:30 a.m. Lakeshore Campus, 1 N. Genesee St., Room 008. Learn about the growing field of manufacturing from a panel of employers. From January 2017 to January 2018, 186,000 new manufacturing jobs were created nationwide.
