March 2: China’s Golden Dragon Acrobats return to James Lumber Center

The Golden Dragon Acrobats, a troupe of China’s most gifted tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists and gymnasts, will bring their country’s 2,500-year-old tradition of acrobatics back to the College of Lake County after an eight-year absence. The performance takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts.

Accompanied by ancient and contemporary music, the multi-talented troupe (photo) combines award-winning acrobatics, precision tumbling, traditional dance andPhoto of Golden Dragon Acrobats breathtaking routines including daring maneuvers atop a precarious tower of chairs.

Since 1985, the Golden Dragon Acrobats have toured North America continuously, performing in all 50 U.S. states and at prestigious venues including the Washington, D.C.-based Ford’s Theatre and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Other locations range from the Boston Symphony Hall to Broadway to the University of California-Berkeley. For details, visit www.goldendragonacrobats.com/.

Regular tickets are $40/$35 and $39/$34 for seniors, CLC staff and alumni. CLC students and teens are $15 and children are $12 (prices do not include a $2 JLC facility fee). Single tickets may be purchased at the Box Office in the James Lumber Center, Room P112 on the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St., by phone or at www.clcillinois.edu/tickets.
