Live performance reimagined during the James Lumber Center’s 2020/2021 virtual season

With six free virtual pre-recorded concerts and a special holiday livestream event, the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts (JLC) at College of Lake County continues to present an engaging, eclectic, virtual entertainment season. “The arts serve an important, vital purpose in bringing people together in a shared experience. The James Lumber Center continues to showcase the power and value of the performing arts with pre-recorded live shows that you can safely enjoy from home,” said Gwethalyn Bronner, executive director of the JLC. “We look forward to welcoming patrons back into the JLC soon.”

The JLC’s 2020/2021 Virtual Professional Series includes the following events:

lee rockerLee Rocker of The Stray Cats: Friday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. Free!

Lee Rocker — founding member of the Grammy-nominated music group, The Stray Cats — performs his concert “The Low Road,” sharing music and stories about his days on the road and rocking his giant, upright bass.

hip-hop-nutcrackerThe Hip Hop Nutcracker: Friday, December 18 at 7 p.m. Only $20!

In this special holiday pre-recorded livestream event, enjoy the beloved holiday tradition at home with this contemporary dance spectacle set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music. This unique and joyful evening-length production is performed by a super-charged cast of all-star dancers. General Admission tickets are $20 (good for one-time viewing); VIP tickets are $50 (includes on demand access to show, a live talk-back and signed poster). The Greatest Piano Men: Friday, January 15 at 7:30 p.m. Free!

Paying homage to perhaps the greatest singer of all time, Rick Michel channels “Ol’ Blue Eyes” in a vocal interpretation of Frank Sinatra’s greatest songs — a timeless concert of hits and American standards. In addition, enjoy a live rock & roll celebration of the greatest piano icons and showmen of all time, from Beethoven, Scott Joplin, George Gershwin to Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Billy Joel.

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers: Friday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. Free!

The most famous bagpipe band on the planet, a groundbreaking fusion of traditional Scottish music and rock/pop anthems proudly dubbed “bagrock,” featuring pipers, guitarists, keyboardists and drummers.
