CLC offers students over 30 new and revised degrees and certificates in 2022

by Public Relations and Marketing | Published Feb 01, 2022

College of Lake County (CLC) is offering students new educational opportunities and helping students save time and money on existing ones after the Board of Trustees approved a variety of new and revised degrees and certificates set to being in the 2022 summer and fall semesters.

Students studyingAll new and revised degrees and certificates have received full support internally, as well as from the college’s workforce partners. These programs were selected because of Career and Technical Education Perkins grant requirements, for areas with gender inequity, workforce demand, the ability to fill jobs in Lake County and pay graduates family-sustaining wages.

“It’s important to align with the workforce needs and skills required by our external partners,” said Vice President of Educational Affairs Dr. Sonya Williams. “Having an in-depth assessment helps us stay on the right track and shows we are using our resources wisely to invest in programs that will get students into the workforce after graduation.”

Additionally, the faculty gave input on revising academic programs. Changes were made to streamline student progress and determine whether certain classes were needed for completion. The removal of unnecessary courses saves students both time and money.

The college is seeking approval from the Illinois Community College Board.
