Check out local innovators as they showcase their talents during the 2nd annual Maker Faire Lake County. After a virtual event last year, College of Lake County (CLC) is hosting this event in-person from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the PE Center of the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W Washington St, Grayslake, IL, 60030.
Maker Faire Lake County is a show-and-tell for innovative designers, creators, builders and tinkerers. It celebrates the multifaceted fields of making, perfect for creative children and adults in Lake County—from engineers to scientists to crafters. The event also showcases CLC’s home for makers, the Baxter Innovation Lab, which opened in 2018. Many Makers develop exhibits with hands-on features to go along with their demonstrations.
“The energy and comradery of so many makers in one place is certainly the reason these fairs are a worldwide phenomenon,” said CLC Engineering Faculty and Maker Faire Producer Jan Edwards. “I’m excited to see the efforts of the Lake County Robotics Competition teams as well as watching what the community builds unfold. All of the attendees will have an opportunity to participate in these builds and make a few take-home items as well.”

The Lake County Robotics Competition for students grade 7-12 will also take place at Maker Faire Lake County. Visit www.clcillinois.edu/events/lcrc for more information, and to register, email Rob Twardock at rtwardock@clcillinois.edu.
On the same day, CLC is hosting an open house at all three campuses from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This April, join CLC in celebration of Community College Month. CLC serves nearly 700,000 residents in diverse communities throughout Lake County. The college is proud to be part of building strategic collaborative partnerships to establish innovative solutions that meet the diverse skilled talent pipeline workforce needs in its community.
