by Public Relations and Marketing | Published Jan 27, 2023

The James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts (JLC) at College of Lake County (CLC) continues its spring 2023 season with two stellar February concerts.

The remarkable, all-female quartet LADAMA graces the JLC stage at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, performing a modern twist on Latin alternative music. This virtuosic ensemble of musicians and educators includes performers from Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Missouri. Utilizing traditional and non-traditional instruments from across the Americas, they will create a unique musical experience flowing from the electric to the acoustic. By combining song, rhythm and storytelling, they aim to build communities through sound, empower women and youth through music and create art that transports us to a future where continents and cultures communicate without borders.

Tickets are $24, $20 for seniors and military and $12 for students. For more information about the artist, visit www.ladamaproject.org

From the bayous of southern Louisiana comes the soulful, gritty-voiced Tab Benoit, headlining at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. A Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist, Benoit has recorded 18 albums in his 30-year plus career and has shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Charlie Musselwhite and Junior Wells. He’s also won several blues awards including the “BB King Entertainer of the Year Award” twice and has been inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Opening the show is guitarist JD Simo, a one-man crusade dedicated to keeping music real, raw and honest. Originally from Chicago, Simo is now based in Nashville where he has worked with Jack White and Blackberry Smoke, among others.

Tickets are $35, $30 for seniors and military and $15 for students. For more information about the Tab Benoit, visit www.tabbenoit.com, and for JD Simo, visit www.simo.fm
