The James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts (JLC) at College of Lake County (CLC) concludes its spring 2023 season with two spirited and eclectic dance and music shows.

With a daring blend of jazz, acrobatic and street dance styles, Chicago Dance Crash performs at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Founded in 2002, this energetic ensemble combines athleticism, artistry and accessibility, combining hip hop, martial arts, breakdance and more in their repertory pieces and freestyle dances. A two-time winner of the Black Theater Alliance Award for Choreography, Crash has been hailed by both Dance Magazine and Newcity Stage as one of the top dance companies from Chicago. Blurring the line between art and entertainment as they perform their competitive “Keeper of the Floor” Championship Dance Battle, some of Chicago’s most accomplished and inventive dancers will battle it out for the audience vote and the coveted KTF title belt. Tickets are $28, $23 for seniors and military and $10 for students. Visit the artist’s website at www.chicagodancecrash.com

The mind-blowing, ground-breaking Gangstagrass comes to the JLC at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 14, exploring new sonic territory derived from the American traditions of bluegrass and hip hop, creating a unique musical recipe all their own. Garnering critical praise and a massive fan response on “America’s Got Talent” in 2021 and nominated for an Emmy Award for their theme song to the FX Network show “Justified,” their latest album, “No Time for Enemies,” also reached #1 on Billboard’s bluegrass chart. Their renowned live shows take the audience on an explosive, energetic ride via original songs that amplify America’s common ground, including freedom, ingenuity, unity across differences and the strength and struggles of all people. This impassioned concert will surely have folks bopping and dancing in the aisles! Tickets are $25, $22 for seniors and military and $10 for students.
