Sustainability Council

The Sustainability Council is a vital part of the shared governance system at the College of Lake County and represents one its Areas of Excellence. The Council promotes activities, procedures and practices that address environmental responsibility and social equity in a way that can lead us to a more sustainable future. The Council supports sustainability at the College by:

  • Advocating for reducing, reusing and recycling and composting consumable materials
  • Supporting faculty with Sustainability Across the Curriculum resources
  • Funding small scale sustainability initiatives across the campuses
  • Helping students, faculty and staff to attend sustainability conferences
  • Providing oversight for the Bee Campus USA and Tree Campus USA programs
  • Supporting community events that raise awareness of issues and opportunities for a more sustainable world

The council is a part of a long-term planning process, overseeing the Sustainability Plan and its Annual Performance Reviews at the College of Lake County.
