CLC celebrates Latinx Heritage Month and recognizes the contributions of Latinx community members to American society and culture. In addition, we celebrate the Independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, México and Chile during the months of September and October.

April Hernandez-Castillo: Actress / Motivational Speaker

One of the most respected Latina actresses in Hollywood, April Hernandez-Castillo's personal life story is one of victory. Her feature film debut as Eva Benitez in the Image Award-nominated MTV film, Freedom Writers (2007), alongside Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank, put her in the ranks of some of the biggest names in the industry.

Writer Vianney Casas "Harelly" - Immigrant Trauma Healing

Vianney Harelly is a nostalgic poet and visual artist from la frontera Tijuana/San Diego. Her journey as a writer began at an early age in journals (the ones with the candadito) where she would write the words of a child who didn’t have the space or chance to verbalize her emotions.
