CLC Big Idea Jr. Competition for High School Students

Important Dates

  • January 21 through March 22, 2020:
    Applications accepted. Late applications cannot be accepted after Mar. 22, 2020.
  • March 30, 2020
    Finalists will be selected and notified via email no later than March 30.
  • April 20, 2020
    From 7-9 p.m Finalists will “pitch” their ideas in person at the CLC Big Idea Jr. Competition event to be held at the CLC Grayslake Campus. Think “Shark Tank” at CLC!

How to Apply

Students must complete a simple application form online and upload a two to three-minute video about their business idea to YouTube (the video link must be included on the application).

The College of Lake County is excited to announce the first annual business idea competition for Lake County high school students.

The CLC Big Idea Jr. Competition 2020 invites high school students, individuals and teams of up to 3, to use their creativity to develop and share their best ideas for a new product, service or business. No financials or business plans are needed, just a great idea with the potential to solve a problem, harness an opportunity or change the world!

Students will compete at a friendly, live event with an expert panel of judges from the College and local business community, with the chance to win prizes including $500 1st place, $250 2nd place, and $100 3rd place cash prizes. The 2020 event is sponsored by CLC Business and Social Sciences division, the CLC Student Business Club, and the Baxter Foundation.
