  • Start saving early using savings accounts and 529 accounts
  • Work a little (10 hours) a week while attending college. On-campus jobs and Federal Work Study are great options to consider.
  • Review credit for prior learning options to see if there are courses where you can demonstrate proficiency without having to take courses on material you already know.
  • Use military benefits if you have served in the military
  • Use employer-sponsored tuition reimbursement programs if available
  • Review tax credits and deduction options (American Opportunity Tax Credit and Lifetime Learning Credit)
  • Reduce textbook costs by seeking courses that offer Open Education Resource (OER) options, which are free or reduced cost of $25 or less for course materials. Look for the gold OER star when registering.
  • Meet regularly with Academic Success Advisors to ensure you are only taking courses you need to meet your educational goals
