How to Get Started with ABE, ASE or ESL Courses

1. Complete the Student Admission Form online or in-person.

    After you submit the form, as long as you have provided an email address, you will receive your username and temporary password in two separate emails. You will also receive your username and password in two letters through U.S. Mail. The Welcome Letter from CLC will include your CLC Student ID. Once you receive this information, please call (847) 543-2485 for information about scheduling an appointment for a placement test.

2. Take a placement test.

The placement test will help determine accurate course placement based on a student’s skills, abilities, and language needs in reading, writing, and mathematics where applicable. The test can be taken at the Grayslake campus or the Lakeshore campus. You will need your CLC Student ID in order to take the test along with a photo ID.

3. Register.

After your placement test, an Enrollment Center staff member will work with you to select and enroll in classes based on your test results.
