What Does an Electrical Engineering Technologist Do?
Electronics are the "brains" that drive our gadgets—and our lives—Cell phones, Computers, Electric cars and thousands of other products!
- Help design and fix products that can change lives.
- Make computers faster and smarter.
- Make your cell phone smaller and better.
- Power-up today's hot gadgets, from segways to robotic vacuum cleaners
What can you do with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology?
A person with a 2-year degree usually works as an assistant to the person with a 4-year degree.
- Designing
- Making and testing
- "Tweaking" and customizing
- Maintaining and troubleshooting
- Repairing at home office or in the field

Electronics Technicians
Electronics technicians use engineers' plans to design and develop electronic equipment and electrical machinery. They work in research, development, quality control, design, production or sales. Technicians use information from blueprints and detailed drawings to test, adjust and inspect products. They insure that set standards and specifications are met.
Some electronics technicians help in the development of electronic products. Other technicians are responsible for repairing and servicing defective equipment. Experienced technicians may advance to supervisory positions. Those with exceptional abilities and additional training may be promoted to professional positions. Progressive positions include engineering technicians, production-test supervisors and quality assurance supervisors.
