For many math courses, the prerequisite may be met all or in part by submitting a high school transcript with certain grades in certain courses.
MTH 140, MTH 141 and MTH 142
The prerequisites for Contemporary Mathematics (MTH 140), Quantitative Literacy (MTH 141), and General Education Statistics (MTH 142) may be met by an evaluation of a high school transcript provided a student is Basic Algebra Ready. The prerequisites may be met by submitting a high school transcript showing one of the following:
- completion of two years of high school algebra (Algebra I and Algebra II) with a grade of "C" or better all semesters
- OR completion of Math 1, Math 2 and Math 3 with a grade of "C" or better all six semesters
- OR TM002 code on the high school transcript indicating completion of an approved Transitional Math (Quantitative Literacy and Statistics Pathway) course with a “C” or better. Learn more about high school transitional math courses.
- Or earning a 3.0 or higher unweighted cumulative high school GPA AND completion of a true fourth year of math with a “C” or better both semesters
Submit your high school transcript to the CLC Registrar and Records office for review.
Geometry Proficiency
Some college-level math courses require Geometry Proficiency. Geometry Proficiency may be demonstrated by any of the following:
- submitting a high school transcript showing a "C" or better in one year of high school geometry or a "C" or better in Math 1, Math 2 and Math 3
- OR earning a "C" or better in Geometry (MTH 104) or Preparatory Mathematics for General Education (MTH 105) or Intermediate Algebra (MTH 108)
- OR earning a Math ACT score of 22 or higher or a Math SAT score of 530 or higher on the new SAT test or an appropriate score on the CLC Math Placement Test
Submit your high school transcript or score report to the CLC Registrar and Records office for review.
