Become an Apprentice

As a CLC Apprentice, you will build your knowledge with industry specific classes, gain experience and on-the-job training with a company mentor where you work. The goal of the program is to provide employees like you with advanced skills that meet the specific need of your employer in a flexible learning setting.

You will participate in a structured “Learn and Earn” program that combines job related classroom learning along with a structured on–the-job training guided by a mentor.

Apprenticeships are career paths. An apprentice like you will receive training, guidance and support throughout your program. As an apprentice, you can:

  • Earn a degree with industry national certification
  • Gain full-time employment with benefits
  • Have no college debt - Tuition, fees and books will be paid for by your employer
  • Achieve industry aligned education
  • Get higher wages and career advancement
  • Coordinate class schedule with work

How does the Apprenticeship Program work? 

Depending on your program, you will attend work and classes each week. You may work for 3 days a week, and attend class in 2 days. Or work 4 days and attend class for 1 day. The program length varies from two to three years.

Who is eligible? 

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. (citizen or permanent resident)
  • Current CLC students need a cumulative 2.0 GPA
  • Meets CLC's academic requirements

How to apply to the Apprenticeship program? 

New Students

  • Step 1: Learn about apprenticeships and complete the Apprenticeship Program Interest Form.
  • Step 2: Apply to CLC.
  • Step 3: Take the CLC placement test. All apprentices must place into college-level writing, reading and math. Schedule an appointment on your student portal to test. Visit the Testing Center for more details.
  • Step 4: Apply and interview. Meet with an apprentice team member at the Career and Job Placement Center. College ready candidates will be invited to apply for apprenticeship opportunities. Please call (847) 543-2059 to schedule an appointment.
