Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)

Application for HEERF grants is now closed.

Students are encouraged to apply for the Lancer Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF) assistance.

College of Lake County students will receive funds to help continue their education through economic challenges related to COVID-19. More than $10 million in emergency cash grants will support students to continue their educational goals.

CLC received $20,518,628 from the American Relief Plan (ARP) Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) III. $10,358,077 is specifically designated as emergency financial aid grants to students.

Students having difficulty paying for their education should apply for tuition assistance.

All students, regardless of citizenship status, are eligible to receive emergency cash grants.

Through this fund, eligible students will be provided cash grants in financial assistance and resources to cover needs such as:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Food
  • Housing and utilities
  • Books and course materials
  • Transportation
  • Technology
  • Healthcare (including mental health)
  • Childcare

Funds can be directly applied to student balances owed to the college, and students with past due balances are encouraged to apply so they can continue their education.

Who is eligible to apply for HEERF III grants?

Eligible students must meet the following requirement:

  • Enrolled in for-credit classes* or adult education classes during the period of national emergency (March 13, 2020 to present) (full or part time)

* Students enrolled in classes with PCS codes 1.1 (transfer), 1.2 (career), 1.4 (developmental), 1.6 (professional development), and 1.7, 1.8., 1.9 (adult education) are eligible for CRRSAA emergency awards. You can find the PCS Code on the “Enrollment Information” tab of the class detail in myStudentCenter or in the “Enrollment Information” section of the “Course Detail” page of the course catalog in myStudentCenter.

Additionally, students can apply for grants through the college's Lancer Emergency Assistance Fund.

CLC is required to distribute grant amounts based on a student’s demonstrated need and award amounts will vary. Assistance is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

Grant funds are limited, so students are encouraged to apply early. All grant requests will be reviewed for approval and funding decisions will be made within one week. Students do not have to pay back their grant and it is not considered taxable income. This grant will not impact a student's current or future financial aid.
