Academic Success Advisor with a student

Advising Center

Update: From July 31 to September 1, advising for current CLC students will be available exclusively on a drop-in basis. Drop-in advising services will be offered via phone or in-person at the Grayslake campus. On the day you are looking to be advised, stop by the Onboarding and Advising Office (Room B113) or call (847) 543-2060 and the office staff will add your name to the drop-in list for either phone or in-person advising services. If your assigned Academic Success Advisor (ASA) is not available, you may meet with another ASA on your Field of Interest team.

Please note that drop-ins are brief discussions focused on course selection for the Fall 2023 semester. Some topics may require a follow-up appointment. Appointments for more in depth academic, career, and transfer planning will resume the week of September 4th.

Meet with your assigned College and Career Navigator

New students receive first semester advising from a College and Career Navigator in the Student Recruitment and Onboarding Department. Meet your College and Career Navigator.

Meet with your assigned Academic Success Advisor

As a CLC student, you have a personal Academic Success Advisor (ASA) assigned to you based on your field of interest or program of study/major.

Your ASA is your go-to person from your first day of classes through graduation. They will help you develop your goals, select classes, create a personalized success plan, enhance your college success skills and get connected to additional CLC resources. You are encouraged to meet with your ASA every semester to help you stay on track as you work toward your educational goals.

Appointments with your assigned ASA are scheduled via Navigate, which is accessible through myCLC.

  • Contact information for your assigned ASA is available in Navigate under the Resources tab.
  • Face-to-face, Zoom and Phone advising appointments are available.
  • October and February are the best months to seek advisement and make a plan for the upcoming semester.

ASAs are also available during designated times for drop-in questions. Drop-ins are typically brief discussions lasting no more than 20 minutes and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Some topics may require a follow up appointment.

Note: If you do not currently have an ASA assigned to you, please contact the Advising Center at (847) 543-2060 for assistance.

Have general questions or need assistance? Contact the Advising Center support staff at (847) 543-2060 or advising@clcillinois.edu. Please allow two to three business days for email response.

Note: Academic Success Advisors do not provide mental health services. Please contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) if you have questions related to mental health services.
