Spring Break Update

Published Mar 09, 2020

Spring break is just around the corner, and everyone is looking forward to their well-deserved break. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for both our students and employees, College of Lake County reminds all travelers (domestic and international), although the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission remains low at the present time for Lake County and the CLC community, many areas of the world and country are not as fortunate. CLC does not set requirements for personal travel, but we are strongly urging students and employees to remain vigilant and knowledgeable when traveling, especially if traveling to areas with active community transmission and/or Level 1, 2 or 3 countries. All travelers are encouraged to check the CDC’s COVID-19 travel page, State Department travel advisories, and the International Air Transport Association’s list of travel and entry restrictions for the latest information before departing.

As you travel, please refer to the official information on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website outlining helpful information such as to how COVID-19 is spread, signs and symptoms of illness, what to do if you are sick, as well as the latest information on this outbreak. The single greatest way to prevent the spread of disease is good handwashing hygiene using soap and running water. An alcohol-based hand sanitizing gel is an acceptable substitute until you can properly wash your hands with soap and water.

We wish you a restful and enjoyable break and look forward to everyone returning to the college safely and well March 30.

The college continues to be committed to the health, safety and security of our community. In an effort to facilitate that commitment, the college has put our Preparedness Plan into action and is operating under the Code Green – Prevention phase. We are actively monitoring the situation along with our partners at the Lake County Health Department and will continue to provide reliable information and communications as the situation evolves.
