COVID-19 Update: April 20, 2020 Message to Students

Published Apr 20, 2020

While this summer may not look like what you had planned, we are here for you and care about your success at CLC. We have many resources available to support your academic success and to navigate an alternative delivery model.

Summer is (still) all about the degrees at CLC. Scheduled classes at the Grayslake, Lakeshore and Southlake campuses have moved to an alternative delivery format to allow you to complete coursework over the summer. There are three flexible options for credit classes so you can get your degree sooner. We will continue to offer remote support services to help with learning online. Plus, we are waiving the $8 per credit hour online course fee this summer. Tuition and comprehensive fees still apply. And there’s a new payment plan option with no payments until June 20.

  1. Online Anytime – Classes on your own time
    • You complete coursework online and connect to your classmates and instructor without having to login during specific days or times.
    • You work on your own time to meet deadlines and maintain course participation through online discussions and activities.
    • These classes are ideal for students who are self-motivated and can independently manage their time.
  2. Online Live – Scheduled course participation via virtual Zoom sessions
    • Your class will have online delivery via Zoom with a dedicated virtual classroom time.
    • You and your classmates connect with the instructor at the same time in their virtual classroom space.
    • You will be online at specific times to participate in class lectures, discussions and presentations.
    • These classes are like regular in-person classes with faculty and class interaction, but online.
  3. Summer Boost – Accelerated face-to-face learning later in the summer
    • You will learn in-person over 5-week courses that are scheduled for the end of summer with appropriate social distancing and pending the current health climate.
    • There will be advanced notice of any canceled classes and there are no financial obligations if these courses do not run due to the current health climate.
    • Most course offerings will be career classes that require hands-on learning. Some additional general education requirement classes will be scheduled during this time.

Classes will run as scheduled:

  • Intersession: May 19 – June 5 (Registration open)
  • Summer Session: June 8 – July 30 (Registration open)
  • NEW Summer Boost: July 6 – August 8 (Registration opens April 27)

Take the time today to enroll in a class that will get you closer to your end goal. For more information on these options, visit
