COVID-19 Update for Students - April 29, 2020 Spring Grading Adjustments

Published Apr 29, 2020

We have an update regarding the grading policy due to recent guidance from the Illinois Community College Board. These new changes for spring semester allow you more flexibility to meet graduation requirements with P (Pass) grades.

P grades will now:

  • Meet graduation requirements. This includes ENG 121 and other similar courses. However, students in specific career programs may still need a C or better due to accreditation guidelines; those students should work closely with their instructors on guidance for their programs.

  • Be allowed to meet requirements to advance to the next level in a course sequenceHowever, students in specific career programs may still need a C or better due to accreditation guidelines; those students should work closely with their instructors on guidance for their programs.

  • Be transferable and earn credit as they were originally intended during the Spring 2020 semester and be applied toward major, minor, and General Education requirements. Colleges and universities nationwide are relaxing their requirements for incoming transfer coursework completed during the spring 2020 term and are accepting P grades. Final decisions on transferability are made at the receiving institution and it is recommended you consult with the Admissions department at your intended transfer institution.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your faculty members or visit the FAQ grading page.
