Iceland: Fire & Ice—Exploring Renewable Energy Innovation & Sustainability

The Iceland Green program is an intensive 8-day program focused on Renewable Energy and Sustainability, in partnership with Iceland School of Energy at Reykjavik University. Participants will learn about how the country is utilizing innovative geothermal energy and hydro power technologies and putting these to work in the circular economy, food production, carbon sequestration and capture, and renewable fuel production.

Icelandic adventure excursions include super jeeping, glacier walks, caving, glacier snorkeling, hot springs and Golden Circle tour. Credit from RU, exclusive access and private tours to Iceland's leading hydroelectric, geothermal and bio-fuel facilities.

  • HET 294: Green Building & Energy Sustainability (3 credits)

This course provides an introduction to “Green Building” within the LEED certification process. Other topics related to sustainability will be covered including conservation, insulation, weatherization and renewable energy technologies such as wind, solar and geothermal systems.

Withdrawal information:  Your deposit and other fees are refundable if you withdraw from the program no later than December 8, 2023. Withdrawals must be made in writing and submitted to wwloch@clcillinois.edu.

Scholarship information

Study abroad scholarships are available through the Department of Global Engagement for eligible participants. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must have already applied and been accepted to the study abroad program.
