Study Abroad

Costs vary depending on program type and length. Tuition rates for the course(s) connected to your program vary by student. Please visit the program page of your interest to see what is included and excluded in the program cost. Learn more about tuition rates.

All CLC students can apply to a study abroad program if they meet the minimum requirements for eligibility. CLC offers faculty-led summer programs as well as opportunities through CIEE.

For CLC study abroad programs, applications typically open at the end of September for summer programs. For our semester abroad program in China, the application opens during the Spring semester for the following fall semester.

Living arrangements vary by program. For short-term programs, lodging is typically provided in hotels or share homes. For longer programs, the most common types of accommodation arranged for study abroad students are residence hall-type housing, homestays or private apartments or rooms.

To learn more and for the application please visit the U.S. Department of State’s  Bureau of Consular Affairs. Find your nearest Passport Acceptance Facility. Our office offers two free 2x2 photos to CLC students, faculty, and staff during office hours.

Yes. CLC does not have any restrictions for DACA recipients to study abroad. CLC’s only concern is for the student to be able to re-enter the country after they have completed their program.

DACA students can study abroad and return to the United States when granted advance parole, using “educational” purposes as the reason for travel.

What do I need to request advance parole?

• a current valid DACA
• a copy of your EAD work permit or other government photo ID
• a copy of the last DACA approval notice
• two passport photos
• USCIS filing fee - $575

You also need to provide these documents as evidence for education purposes:

• official offer letter from school program
• enrollment documents
• course syllabus
• two passport photos
• letters from professors

No. CLC study abroad programs are instructed in English by a CLC faculty member. ICISP programs do not require language proficiency.

For CLC study abroad programs, the Department of Global engagement will enroll the student to their program’s course(s). For non-CLC programs, you will work directly with the Department of Global Engagement to ensure your credits transfer.

Experience different styles of education. You see a side of your major that you may not have been exposed to at home. Immersing yourself in the education system of your host country is a great way to really experience and understand the people, its traditions and its culture.

Yes. Students holding a F1 non-immigrant visa may study abroad through one of our CLC study abroad programs.

Our CLC study abroad programs do not require letters of recommendation. We only require two references for your application. We ask that your references are two CLC instructors.
