Cultivate encyclopedic-level expertise with the versatile history program offered at College of Lake County. Apply the knowledge you gain throughout this program to areas such as law, public relations, marketing or education. This multidisciplinary transfer program translates to a variety of bachelor’s programs.

Once you identify your desired 4-year university or college, complete your Associate in Arts with courses that meet the school’s requirements. Then, get ready to choose a career path as a historian, teacher, journalist, lawyer or whenever you want to use your comprehensive knowledge of the past to write and present well-researched recommendations for the future.

Why study History with us?

You will enjoy smaller classes, the same preparation as you would find at larger, more impersonal 4-year schools, where you are taught by TAs not professors. At CLC, the instructors are teachers first, researchers second. They dedicate their careers to helping you learn from the past to accomplish more in the future.

The CLC History program not only has the basic courses, but you can take classes in Latin American History, the History of World War II, even the History of Chicago, many of which will transfer as history credits.

For students planning to transfer to a 4-year college or university for a bachelor’s degree.

These programs are built around general education classes that lead to an associate degree designed to transfer to a 4-year school. CLC participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) to ensure that approved courses will transfer to other participating colleges and universities. Transfer degrees typically take 2 years* to complete.
