Qualifying for Financial Aid
Federal requirements
To receive federal financial aid, you must meet several requirements, including:
- Being a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Certifying that you are not in default on a federal student loan, and that you do not owe money on a federal grant
- Certifying that you will use federal aid only for educational purposes
- Enrolling in an eligible program (16 credit hours or more) as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate
- Having a high school diploma or general education development certificate or recognized equivalent
- Having a valid Social Security number
- Meeting the satisfactory academic progress standards set by the college
