Presented by the CLC UndocuAllies Committee, the College of Lake County community will come together on Sunday, October 4, 2026 for Carrera de los Lancers, a 5K run and walk dedicated to creating educational opportunities through scholarships and entrepreneurial pathways for students.

This event is more than a race. It is a community movement! Every registration, donation, sponsorship, and shared mile helps remove financial barriers and create opportunities for students pursuing higher education, career advancement, and entrepreneurship.

Make an online donation to the Carrera de los Lancers Scholarship fund:

  1. Go to the CLC Foundation page and fill out the 'Make a Gift' form.
  2. Under designation, select "Other", and type "Carrera de los Lancers" in the "other designation" field.
  3. Complete and submit the form.

Lancer Independent Contracting Builders Program

Many students dream of starting a business, becoming independent contractors, creating community-based enterprises, or turning their talents into sustainable careers. The Lancer Independent Contracting Builders Program seeks to help students on that journey.

The Lancer Business Builders Program provides students with opportunities to:

  • Explore entrepreneurship as a career pathway
  • Develop business planning and financial literacy skills
  • Learn about independent contracting and self-employment
  • Connect with mentors, business professionals, and community resources
  • Build the confidence and knowledge needed to launch their own ventures

Scholarship support generated through Carrera de los Lancers helps increase access to these opportunities, ensuring that students with entrepreneurial aspirations can participate regardless of financial circumstances.

Location and Parking

Sunday, October 4, 2026

College of Lake County – Grayslake Campus, 19351 W Washington St, Grayslake, IL 60030.

Parking: Park in lots 6, 8 or 9 for closest parking to the check-in table.

Race schedule and route

8:30 to 9:30 a.m.: Same-day registration/bib pickup

10 a.m.: Race start

Pick up your race bib and event shirt before race day and enjoy a smoother check-in experience.

Packet pickup location: Building F Gym

Packet pickup schedule:

  • Friday, October 2: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 3, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

What to expect

Before the event

  • Registration: Sign up online and pick up your bib during early bib pickup or on the day of the race. More details are listed in the registration confirmation email.
  • Event pricing: This event is free for CLC students. Registration is $40 per runner plus fees for CLC staff and community members before September 6th. After this date, registration is $50 per runner plus fees for CLC staff and community members.
  • Clothing: Wear comfy shoes as the race route includes pavement, gravel and grass.

At the race

  • Registration: Check in at the registration table. Plastic bins are available for storage (store items at your own risk).
  • Stay hydrated: Stop by the designated water stations throughout the course.
  • Family safety: Children are welcome with adult supervision.
  • FREE Event T-Shirt for All Registered Participants! Event t-shirts are available for all registrations received by September 6. Event t-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for registrations received after this date. Show your Lancer pride and commemorate your participation with an official Carrera de los Lancers 2026 t-shirt!
  • Explore the Student Resource & Community Fair. Before and after the race, connect with local organizations, community partners, and College of Lake County programs that provide valuable resources, services, and opportunities for students and families.
  • Enjoy Local Food Vendors: Treat yourself to a variety of delicious food and refreshments from local vendors.
