CLC makes Gold on list of Military Friendly Schools

College of Lake County (CLC) was among the top colleges and universities nationwide to be named an official Gold Military Friendly® school.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Schools Awards designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2023-2024 survey; 530 schools earned awards level designations in Gold, Silver, and Bronze, and 250 were selected for “Gold” award status for their leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs.

"This award really reflects CLC's student-centered approach in all departments,” said Military-Affiliated Student Outreach and Programs Coordinator Matt Sawicki. “Our military-affiliated and veteran students uniformly report outstanding support from the Welcome and One Stop Center, our career and college navigators, academic success advisors and faculty. All CLC faculty and staff should take pride in our designation as a 'Gold' Military-Friendly School."

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in higher education. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey responses and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based assessment. We measure their ability to meet thresholds for Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Repayment, Persistence, and Loan Default rates for all students and specifically, for student veterans.
