Figuring out financial aid for college can be a challenge, beginning with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our financial aid experts can help make sure you’re on the right track during free FAFSA workshops leading up to the start of the semester.

Workshop dates are:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 6, 3-5 p.m. at Grayslake Campus room C122
  • Wednesday, Aug. 7, 3-5 p.m. at Southlake Campus room V102
  • Thursday, Aug. 8, 3-5 p.m. at Lakeshore Campus room S208
  • Thursday, Aug. 22 3-5 p.m. at Grayslake Campus room C122

“People often don’t know where to start when it comes to FAFSA,” said Financial Aid Director Rey Gonzalez. “And even if you do, these workshops are a great opportunity to get a second pair of eyes on the forms to make sure they’re completed correctly."

Filling out the FAFSA is an important step for students to take as they enroll in college because it can help them access federal, state and institutional financial aid. Students can see what kind of aid they are eligible for before even enrolling.

FAFSA recently made changes to the application to simplify the process with less questions and the ability to directly import IRS tax information. Another big change is in the eligibility for federal Pell grants, allowing more students to be eligible for free financial aid dollars.

Walk-ins are welcome. All workshops are in computer labs, so while laptops are welcome, they aren’t required.
