Make Summer Count: Classes start June 8
Published April 22, 2026
During a time when every dollar and every decision matters, College of Lake County is encouraging students to take a smarter path forward by registering for summer classes starting June 8.
With flexible options and lower-cost credits, summer courses offer a practical way for students at all stages, including recent high school graduates, adult learners and those exploring new career paths, to stay on track and get ahead.
“Students today are thinking carefully about the return on their education,” said Vice President of Student Development Dr. Angela Frazier. “Summer classes at CLC are a smart way to save money, build momentum and move closer to their goals without adding unnecessary time or cost.”
5 reasons to enroll in summer classes
CLC shares five very good reasons to enroll in classes this summer:
- Save money: Earn credits at a lower cost and reduce overall tuition expenses
- Get ahead: Graduate sooner or lighten the fall course load
- Catch up without falling behind: Stay on track after a challenging semester or change in plans
- Flexible options: Choose from online, in-person, evening and short-term classes
- More personal attention: Smaller class sizes provide greater access to instructors and support
Summer enrollment can also help students maintain academic momentum and confidence heading into the fall semester, which begins Aug. 17.
In addition to academic benefits, CLC provides support through college and career navigators who assist students in exploring programs, selecting classes and building a plan aligned with their goals.
“Whether you’re starting college, returning to finish what you began or looking to pivot your career, summer is an opportunity to take a meaningful step forward,” Frazier added.
Registration for summer and fall classes is now open.
