College of Lake County (CLC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Seiler as Chief Information Officer (CIO). The appointment was approved by the CLC Board of Trustees at its September meeting, and he will begin his new role in November.
Seiler has more than twenty years of progressive technology leadership in higher education. He most recently worked as CIO at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Previously, he served as CIO at Tennessee Technological University and led researcher engagement for Princeton University, following 18 years in technology leadership roles at the University of Illinois. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Technology from Eastern Illinois University.
"Illinois raised me, educated me and gave me the first eighteen years of my career,” Seiler said. “After working in Alaska, Tennessee and New Jersey, I'm excited to come home and put that experience to work for CLC and Lake County. My first priority is to listen, both to CLC's talented IT team and to the faculty, staff and students we support, so that together we make technology a tool you reach for, not a hurdle you work around."
As CIO, Seiler will play a vital role in advancing CLC's student-focused mission by ensuring that technology supports college student success, excellence in teaching and learning and institutional operations. The position also provides strategic leadership for major technology initiatives and digital transformation efforts.
The selection follows a comprehensive search process that included participation from faculty, staff and leadership across the college. Feedback was gathered through open forums, interviews and engagement with the Information Technology unit and the College Leadership Team.
“Brian brings a strong record of higher education technology leadership and a deep commitment to equity, recognizing that technology’s true value lies in removing barriers for students,” Interim President Dr. Kristen Jones said. “His experience and vision align closely with CLC’s mission and will be an important asset as the college strengthens its technology strategy to continue meeting the needs of students, employees and the communities we serve.”
Seiler’s appointment reflects CLC’s commitment to strong leadership and collaborative partnerships that drive institutional effectiveness and student outcomes.
