A small act of generosity can make a big difference. Join College of Lake County (CLC) and other community colleges in Illinois to help address food insecurity during the holidays through the annual Feed the Need Campus Food Drive through Nov. 30.

Organized by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), this initiative engages campuses in a friendly competition while serving a critical need. CLC is collecting non-perishable food items and supplies from the community to stock the SHARE Market student food pantry. The goal is to top last year's collection of nearly 10,000 items.

“At any point in their education, students might find they need extra assistance, and the SHARE Market provides support in an easy-to-access format,” said Director of Student Academic Success Dr. Eric Tammes. “Feed the Need helps keep the SHARE Market stocked, and all donations go directly to students.”

The CLC SHARE Market helps currently enrolled students and their families meet their basic needs so they can stay focused on their education and career goals. Students can shop weekly for groceries, school supplies and toiletries. They can also stop by once a day for a snack.

Nearly 1,700 students visited the SHARE Market more than 14,900 times last year.
