How will I balance school with life/work?

Finding your symmetry

CLC focuses on a multi-faceted approach to keep all aspects of your life in equilibrium. That’s not to say that you’re splitting your time evenly; we know that 10 hours of school isn’t the same as 10 hours of childcare or a job. We’ll help you make sure you have enough time to do everything you need to tackle in a day.

Earn money as you learn the skills for your new career. Take advantage of a free service that lets you and your toddler go to school at the same time. Find a flexible learning schedule that can accommodate your other responsibilities. We have the connections to make it happen.

In-person, virtual, online and blended courses

You need classes to adapt to your schedule. You have options for what kind of experience you’ll receive in your courses, ranging from classic in-person to online blended models. This also includes different ways of learning that can include field studies and even apprenticeships.

CLC wants to make sure you are comfortable attending classes, which is why you have a variety of class options to choose from.

Scheduling classes that fit your life is easier than ever:

Finding the right options

Deciding on the right classes that work for you is easier than ever. Whether you want to be part-time with online-only classes or get the classic experience with in-person courses as a full-time student, CLC has all the options you need.

Attending college is a worthwhile investment, and that means making sure you’re not breaking your metaphorical bank.

Attending CLC as a part-time student is a great way to take control of your school/life balance. You’ll have time to focus on your studies while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

  • Full-time: At least 12 credits/semester
  • Part-time: Up to 11 credits/semester during fall/spring
  • Part-time summer: Up to 5 credits

Balancing work with school

A student job on campus doesn’t just pay the bills. It gives you the opportunity to be independent as you build your skills. Finding work that’ll flex with your school schedule is a lot easier than you think. A job on the CLC campus gives you more than money; you’ll gain:

  • Flexibility
  • No commute
  • Great experience
  • Networking connections

There are a lot of great opportunities for students right here, from the comfort of your school.

Balancing kids with school

If you have children, you want to know that they’re being taken care of, and CLC can help with that.

Our two nationally accredited childcare centers let you focus on your academics while your child(ren) learn and play in modern, secure surroundings. They are supervised by child-care professionals, giving you time to attend class and work on assignments.

Services are available at the Grayslake and Lakeshore campuses, offering services year-round.
