Credential Review

View the list of credentials that may be eligible for CLC credit.

To begin the process complete the Credential Review form (PDF). Review the list of preapproved credentials, and bring the required documentation with the form to the Welcome and One Stop Center. To request a review of a credential not on the list contact the academic division with the course you would like accepted for credit based on your credential.

Students considering using credential review are encouraged to work with the academic division to confirm that utilizing credential review is a good fit for their career goals and for completing the program.

College of Lake County Board Policy states that earning credit for prior learning is:

• Not to exceed a total of thirty (30) semester hours required toward the completion of an Associate degree
• Not to exceed one-half (1/2) of the semester hours required toward completion of a certificate
• Not to count toward satisfying fifteen (15) semester hours general residency requirement for the Associate degree
• Please note: Earning credit through credential review has no effect on a student’s grade point average (GPA) at CLC.

There is currently no administration fee by CLC to evaluate credentials. Fees to accrediting agencies may apply to acquire official documentation of the credential received.
