Ways to earn credit for prior learning
We offer three ways to earn transcript-enhancing credit:
National Exams
National exams such as the AP (Advanced Placement), CLEP (College Level Exam Program) and DSST can be used to earn credit for CLC classes.
CLC Challenge Exams
CLC offers its own challenge exams for students who possess prior knowledge of a subject area in a specific course. Challenge exams are not available for all courses and are offered at the discretion of the academic division.
Industry-Specific Credentials
Certain disciplines such as criminal justice, fire science, surgical technology and automotive, will accept some industry specific certifications to evaluate and award academic credit. Some credentials have been evaluated previously and correspond to specific CLC classes.
Other credentials can be reviewed by the academic divisions and may require meeting with a CLC faculty member.
