CARES Act Reporting
College of Lake County received federal funds to provide eligible students emergency financial aid grants for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 crisis. The following information is required by the Department of Education in order to comply with the reporting requirements under the CARES Act. Data will be updated quarterly.

- An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
- The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
- The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter).
- The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
- The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
- Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
College of Lake County received a total amount of $4,973,042 from the CARES Act. $2,486,521 (50 percent) is specifically designated as emergency financial aid grants to students.
College of Lake County received a total amount of $4,973,042 from the CARES Act. $2,820,029 (50 percent) is specifically designated as emergency financial aid grants to students.
The College of Lake County also received $336,322 under the Developing Hispanic-serving Institution CARES Act allocation.
As of March 31, 2021, College of Lake County distributed $2,486,521 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
College of Lake County estimates there are approximately 3,715 students eligible for CARES between 3/13/2020 and 12/31/2020.
As of March 31, 2021, College of Lake County 1,571 students received emergency financial aid grants.
To receive funds, College of Lake County students complete an online application describing the expenses incurred as a result of the disruption of campus operations during the COVID-19 crisis. College of Lake County will evaluate each student’s eligibility and review their need outlined in the application. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. Each student is eligible for up to $2,500 in emergency financial aid grants.
College of Lake County sent an email to all students and employees notifying them of the CARES Act emergency financial aid grants on May 6, 2020. A news release to the local community was also published on May 6, 2020. Online resources are available to students at Lancers Keep Learning.
