Start your college admissions journey with ACT prep

Take some of the stress out of the ACT by focusing on test preparation. College of Lake County offers ACT prep courses for students grades 9-12 that can get you ready to take the first step toward college admission. Registration is open now for the summer course beginning Monday, June 8.
The course includes six three-hour sessions twice a week designed to help students prepare for every section of the ACT, including writing, reading, math and science. The focus of the course is on how to take the test effectively.
“We give students good tips, strategies and the best ways to approach this test and be successful,” said Instructor Svetlana Pantelic.
Students will work through practice questions together in a group setting while learning tips and strategies that can make a difference on test day.
To wrap up the course, students will take a full-length practice ACT designed to feel just like the real exam experience. Instructors and students will then score the test together, review answers and discuss questions in class so students leave with a better understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement.
“This course has been really helpful,” said Brooke Gofron of Lake Forest. “You learn some content, but more importantly, you learn how to take the ACT. The learning happens in school, but the test-taking strategies are learned here. If you struggle with test-taking or multiple-choice tests in general, this course helps with all tests like that.”
Alan Truisky of Mundelein said, “This course has taught me so much about the ACT. I feel a lot more prepared and confident going into the test now. One of the best parts is learning techniques that help you save time and work through questions more efficiently.”
