Angela M. Norwood
Specialties: Phlebotomy; human anatomy.
Teaching full time at CLC since: 2008; Angela also spent 10 years at Abbott Laboratories as a scientist; member of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Subjects taught at CLC: Phlebotomy.
Education: A.A.S., College of Lake County; B.A., Barat College.
What inspires me about my field: It is a window to the world in healthcare. As a part of the clinical laboratory, a phlebotomist will work with various healthcare professionals to provide quality healthcare. I continue to study, apply and share my medical laboratory knowledge with students, the public and healthcare community–with hopes to inspire all.
Deidra Pittman
Specialties: Phlebotomy, nursing, and counseling.
Teaching full time at CLC since: 2017; Deidra also spent 13 years practicing as a nurse and is a member of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Subjects taught at CLC: Phlebotomy.
Education: M.A., Clinical Mental Health Counseling & B.S. in Psychology from Trinity Christian College.
What inspires me about my field: As a Clinician, I can attest that it is through our close collaboration with all of the healthcare professionals that we really are an integral player in quality care. My ambition is to attain an enabling environment for the students that is both positive and secure—encouraging emotional and physical growth while sharing my passion for medical laboratory science with the student body, the public, and the healthcare professional community. I also work towards the establishment of a new norm within the underserved communities, which nurtures awareness of the importance of well-being. The outcome I am striving for is one of systemic and educational reform, allowing transformation and healing for my local community.
