While an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) takes 24 months to complete full-time, short-term stackable certificates are earned along the way and part-time options are available. It prepares you for manual machining and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine shop operations required of today’s precision machining technicians.

Learn about equipment and processes used in the automotive, medical, military, and gas and oil industries, including:

  • sawing
  • cutting
  • grinding
  • milling and turning machine tools
  • programming

What can you do with an A.A.S. in CNC Machining Technology?

An Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) prepares you for a career in CNC Machining Technology. The program includes certificates that ladder to the associate degree. Certain classes have industry credentials embedded within them. This makes the credentials very attractive to employers and will help you get a job sooner.

You can start with the CNC Operator Certificate, add the CNC Setup Technician Certificate, and then earn the CNC Programming Certificate or the full Precision Machining Technology Associate Degree. Each certificate builds on the one before it.

You may also pursue an apprenticeship as part of your program.


NIMS-accredited

The CNC program is accredited by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) and national credentialing is available.  

When you complete certain courses, you will be able to take credentialing exams for a fee. Earn and learn as you go with stackable credentials. These prepare you for a job and advancement in the high-skilled, high-demand field of metalworking and machining.
