Pharmacy Technican

About the Program

College of Lake County's Pharmacy Technician Certificate program is designed to provide students with the necessary education and experience to become a nationally certified pharmacy technician and obtain employment in the industry. The program is 11 months in length and will consist of classroom, hands-on simulation laboratory and clinical rotations. Graduation from the program will provide students with the education and certificate necessary to sit for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam® (PTCE®).

Program Highlights

Licensure and Certification

  • State licensure is required to work as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of Illinois Licensure and Certification
  • National exam pass rate for Summer 2022 Pharmacy Technician program graduates: 100%
  • Criminal disclosure is required for state licensure and certification
  • Get specific information on Illinois requirements

PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

  • Students graduating from CLC’s Pharmacy Tech program will sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam
    • PTCB Certification is accepted in all 50 States and Puerto Rico.
    • The exam is administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. The program is accredited by ASHP/ACPE (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists).
