Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) is a nationally recognized credit-by-examination program offered by the College Board. AP exams are only available to students who have successfully completed high school AP courses. By taking an AP high school course and passing an AP exam, students have the opportunity to earn college credit at many colleges, including College of Lake County.

There are more than 30 AP exams available in various subject areas, including:

  • AP Capstone
  • English Language, Literature, and Composition
  • The Arts
  • History and Social Sciences
  • Math and Computer Science
  • Physical Sciences
  • World Languages and Culture

College Level Exam Program (CLEP)

CLEP is a nationally recognized credit-by-exam program offered by the College Board. By passing a CLEP exam, students have the opportunity to earn college credit at many colleges, including College of Lake County.

CLEP exams cover materials taught in five subject areas:

  • Foreign Languages
  • History and Social Sciences
  • Science and Mathematics
