College of Lake County offers computer information technology programs in cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, computer forensics, programming, web development and technical support.
Technology careers take many forms. You might secure a network, investigate digital evidence, build a website, write computer programs, manage cloud systems or help users solve technical problems. CLC lets you explore these areas and choose the path that fits your interests and career goals.
Most IT courses are available online, helping you fit college around work and other responsibilities. Learn from experienced instructors in small classes where you can ask questions, solve technology problems and receive personal support.

Transfer degrees, career degrees & certificates: What's the difference?
For degree-seeking students planning to transfer to a 4-year college or university for a bachelor’s degree.
Transfer degree programs are built around general education classes that lead to an associate degree designed to transfer to a 4-year school. CLC participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) to ensure that approved courses will transfer to other participating colleges and universities. Transfer degrees typically take 2 years of full-time enrollment to complete.
For degree-seeking students who want to start a new career or advance their current career.
Full-time students can earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science (A.A.S.) at CLC in two years. Gain job-ready skills from experienced instructors and work-based experience from apprenticeships and internships. Some of the courses can even earn college credits, which can transfer to a 4-year college or university to apply toward a bachelor's degree.
For certificate-seeking students who want to earn job skills for entry-level occupations or increase their career opportunities.
You can complete a certificate in less than two years. Many certificate programs include career degree courses, allowing you to stack certificates toward an A.A.S. degree.

Whether you are new to IT, changing careers or adding skills for your current job, you can start with the credential that meets your needs and continue building your education over time.
Enter the workforce with an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. Or develop focused career skills in as little as four months with an IT certificate. Many CLC certificates are stackable. The credits you earn from one credential may move you closer to completing a degree.
Plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree? Complete the Computer Information Technology Associate in Science (A.S.) degree and work with your Academic Success Advisor to plan your transfer. CLC has transfer opportunities with more than 30 four-year schools. You also can explore bachelor’s degree options through the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill.
