Study Abroad: Morocco

Linguistics and society of Morocco

January 4 – 13, 2027

Immerse yourself in culture, educational and service-learning experiences across Morocco. Engage with local youth and community organizations, explore Morocco’s history and culture, and gain insight into contemporary social issues through conversations with Moroccan students, professionals and volunteers.

Take in Morocco’s diverse landscapes, traditions and communities. Visit historical landmarks, learn about Amazigh culture and rural cooperatives.

The trip features one course for three credits total:

  • ENG 128 – Linguistics and Society (3 credit hours)

In this course, you'll study the nature of language acquisition and use within society. Learn the unique characteristics of human languages, how first and second languages are acquired, the connections between language, gender and ethnicity, and how attitudes about language influence society and politics.

The course starts online the week of January 19 and lasts 8 weeks.
