Human rights and justice studies in Poland

May 16 – 30, 2027

Discover Poland through its culture, education and social justice movements. Visit schools and universities, learn from social activists and take part in service-learning experiences. Explore important sites connected to the Holocaust, World War II and the Solidarity Movement, which helped pave the way for the fall of the Berlin Wall. Along the way, reflect on how Poland’s history continues to shape human rights, freedom and social justice around the world

The trip features two courses for six credits total:

Mandatory meetings begin in spring semester 2027. Classwork starts on January 19 and continues post trip.

Cost: $3,900*

*Trip cost subject to change due to unanticipated changes in currency exchange rate, airline and accommodation variations.

Cost includes:

  • round-trip airfare
  • accommodation

  • full-time tour guide
  • some meals (welcome and farewell dinners, all breakfasts)
  • in-country transportation

  • College of Lake County tuition and fees
  • passport fees
  • incidental/personal expenses
  • airport pick up and drop off

Have your passport ready, the contact information for two CLC instructors to serve as your references (must be different from the faculty leaders), and a short statement of purpose to demonstrate why you’d like to study abroad in this program.

Apply Online via the Education Abroad Portal

After submitting your application, an in-person payment of $500 must promptly be made at the Welcome and One Stop Center to secure your spot. Then, faculty will schedule an interview with you to finalize the application process.

Withdrawal information: Your deposit and other fees are refundable if you withdraw from the program no later than December 5, 2026. Withdrawals must be made in writing and submitted to wwloch@clcillinois.edu.

Applicants will receive notice of acceptance into the program no later than December 11.
