Poland: Human Rights and Social History

May 19 to June 1, 2025

Expand your knowledge of global community, international human rights, and social justice by immersing yourself in the history, education and culture of Poland. Explore an important European culture and reflect on its global impact on history and social institutions. Learn by attending class at Polish educational centers, touring important historical sites related to the Holocaust, WWII and political labor movements, and visiting performing arts venues.

The trip features two courses for six credits total:

In this course, you'll develop critical thinking skills, informational literacy, and awareness of diversity and social justice issues. Learn to identify the structure of arguments and categorize types of reasoning. Evaluate arguments in different contexts using various objective standards. Apply critical thinking skills to problem-solving and decision-making in personal and professional situations.

  • HST 124 Modern Europe II with emphasis on Eastern Europe in the 20th Century (3 credits)

Examine the history of Europe in the 20th Century, including political developments, ideology, social change and foreign policy.
