Study Abroad: London, U.K.

London, U.K: Visiting Britain’s literary icons

May 18 – 29, 2026

Immerse yourself in London’s literary scene. Visit the homes of writers Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, John Keats and Virginia Woolf. Attend a play at the Globe Theatre—an exact replica of the theatre where Shakespeare’s plays were first performed. Study archives in England’s most-revered museums. Plus, you'll have plenty of time for afternoon tea and London sight-seeing during this 12-day program.

The trip features one course for three credits total:

  • ENG 225: Survey of British Literature I (3 credit hours)

Get an introduction to British literature from the medieval period to today. Practice critical reading, hone analytical skills, and learn how to write research essays that enter into existing scholarly conversations. Study the works of William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Virginia Woolf and Zadie Smith. Prerequisite: ENG121 with C or higher.
